Broadalbin, NY

Broadalbin is a village of about 1,500; located 1 hour northwest of Albany and 45 minutes west of Saratoga Springs. Located on the shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake, and in the foothills of the Adirondack Park, Broadalbin is a popular tourist location. Settled in 1770 by Henry Stoner, the Town of Broadalbin was established in April of 1794. The Village of Broadalbin was incorporated in 1923. There are many historical sites, as well as relaxing vacation spots in the area. The Great Sacandaga Lake was formed to control flooding on the Hudson River. Many towns and homes were destroyed to create this reservoir, filled in 1931. In early days there were many saw and grist mills, a broom factory, and a chair factory. Now we have a diversity of businesses, including Mohawk Products, Fiber Conversion, Sacandaga Bible Conference, and a number of family owned retail businesses. Because of the number of requests for more information, check out my Village Info page. If you want to come and visit sometime, just e-mail me for directions. More information on our area is available from the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, Gloversville, NY 12078
